A Filipino domestic worker in Hong Kong was forced to wait outside her employers’ apartment for four hours on her rest day because she was not trusted with a key.
On Christmas Day, Mary, who has been working for these employers for six months, was forced to wait outside of their apartment in Tiu Keng Leng, Sai Kung, after spending her rest day with friends, sunwebhk.com reported.
A neighbor saw Mary and let her wait in that apartment because it was cold outside. Mary’s employers finally returned home four hours later. However, she was put to work when they arrived.
The employers have not given Mary a key to the apartment because they do not trust her and have imposed a strict 7pm curfew on her rest days. She said they usually came home late but she still chose to stick to her curfew.
Mary said she did not want to terminate her contract over the matter of not having a key. She said she would put up with these employers until her contract expires, and in the meantime would try to get them to give her a key.

Hahahahjaja carry theirhouse and lot ????????????????
Same as mine today,my employer doesnt want me to bring tge key every day off,as her reason is myabe i will lost it.but of course tge reason is they want me to help them with the kids, although i arrived early as i have curfew but i need to wait them sometimes 2hrs late.and its also not allowed to stay in the lobby as the management is very strict…
Correct..Correct ..to all employer like that…Carry your house outside .
Or Dont Hire a Helper..!!
Have experienced before in my first job here in hk. Same thing happened. Worst is she fired me in the middle of the night on a cold weather. It give me up to the top courage to strive more.Luckily im almost hitting my 3rd contract with my American/Danish bosses.
Grateful
I live with my employer for 10 yrs, and she not give me a key when I’m on day off… But it’s OK as it’s just only a key…i can return home when ever I want but curfew is 930…so they wait me instead I wait them…
Dont be afraid to be terminated…if they treated you badly..let them terminate you first ..so they will pay you back..and you can find another employer,if your employer wont pay you and your agency insist to sign on something that is not right under the law in hk…DO NOT SIGN! file a case ask help in in CATHOLIC CENTER located at central near world wide and watson… 13th flr. They help terminated dh and have shelter to stay on rather than staying in your agencies boarding hauz….most of the agencies bh are dirty and have lots of bed bugs…. there is alot of options to make…dont ignore your employers wrong doing…..or you can travel Macau….to look for a new job.BUT DONT TRUST FELLOW FILIPINO HERE, MOSTLY ARE SCAMMERS….
I agree that pack the house in carry it all the way w’re ever they go
She can report her employers to the labor Dept also at the immigration dept. What her employer doing to her is against the law we sign contracts saying we have 24 hours rest on our day off and they dont have right to hold our phones that is our only contact to our families what kind of employers she has she has all the rights to go to the immigration and report them
Is there no any government mediator to solve this unjust act of employer?, just asking

Typical chinese employers ! Greedy and don’t care about anyone other than themselves.
If you do trust ur helper then don’t get a helper that’s it,
HK,,so many employer,,no worry, and that sound not so good for this case that employer do it so,we are same in this world, think if employer have to wait for four hours, may be she is on fire.
Just like me but I can’t blame my employer…because Im only 2 months here in hk…christmas eve and new years eve I have waited for them outside I cant enter the house becausei have no key..i really want to take rest but ican’t..it last for 3hrs…but Im always praying to god that hopefully they will change the way they treated me..
Tell her to seek advice to an organization who help foreign workers. I can refer to you Christian action, they can render assistance to anyone who is having difficulties in their employment. They can also help you in legal action. Or send a letter to the hk labor describing her current situations and send a copy to immigration department for them to be aware of her employer’s misconduct.
Nah there is always a choice if you really want too but of course you need to face the consequences like paying big money to the agency If you are lucky enough to find employer within 14 days after breaking the contract or you find another employer first before thinking to break the previous contract…
She does not have to pay an agency fee if she looks for an new job. Send her to fair employment agency they will NOT charge the helper a fee sadly yes she will have to return home for processing but please put an end to heloers paying agency fee this is avoidable NOW.
Go to consulate and seek advise..so that they can meddle with the problem if dont want the contract will be terminated or else much better seek Labor dept. Help
Why be afraid and suffer if we have God we can ask for help.
