A Filipino domestic worker in Hong Kong was forced to wait outside her employers’ apartment for four hours on her rest day because she was not trusted with a key.
On Christmas Day, Mary, who has been working for these employers for six months, was forced to wait outside of their apartment in Tiu Keng Leng, Sai Kung, after spending her rest day with friends, sunwebhk.com reported.
A neighbor saw Mary and let her wait in that apartment because it was cold outside. Mary’s employers finally returned home four hours later. However, she was put to work when they arrived.
The employers have not given Mary a key to the apartment because they do not trust her and have imposed a strict 7pm curfew on her rest days. She said they usually came home late but she still chose to stick to her curfew.
Mary said she did not want to terminate her contract over the matter of not having a key. She said she would put up with these employers until her contract expires, and in the meantime would try to get them to give her a key.

it happened to me before. sometime i stay outside until 2am and i still have to do housework. but i put up with it until i finish my contract. they ask me to continue but no thanks there are a lot of employer who can treat us better like a human being
…God is the key..prayer.
Such a crazy and idiot employer..!!

Some chinese pipol really think stupid,.!!
*correction still-steal
some employers her in Hong Kong are so rude with their house maids.just to remind you employers, without your maid,do you think you can still go to work that you know there is no one to look after your kid?do you think your house is much clean as what you think?surely not..so please be kind to your maid,..we never wish to come here to still your things, rather we came here to earn for our family.and please be guided that we are given not less than 24 hours to spend for our holiday.I wish that the hk government will take a look of this problem and do something.employers must not be given a maid once she don’t follow what is written in the contract…
We as domestic helper even newly hired here in Hong kong before signing your contract you must know what’s your rights. As far as I know you read first before signing your contract. If you are scared and don’t know what’s your rights as being helper your employer always down you even they knows the rules and regulations as being employer.
For this stupid employer no conciense.why employ a maid if they don’t trust.if she gave curfew to her maid ok but that time send the key home.and go back outside.dont let the maid super of cold outside.she never trust? Because she is also a person that cnnt trust.
Don’t hire a maid f u are not comfortable having another person in your household! Simple as that, hire a maid treat them nice and as a member of your family,it’s ridiculous to still read such story!
Gnyan dn dti Kong amo after 1year binigyan dn ako ng key ng bhay tiis lng kbayan

Hope law makers do something about this matters. It’s common now.

I was once like that…..no keys waiting for them…working even my rest day….early curfew….no enough food….so I resign..now I’m so blessed to have my American employer….I’ve prayed and prayed to have this kind employee….so thankful for that!
