A Singaporean woman who had dismissed five foreign domestic workers within 14 months was found not guilty of physically abusing a Filipino woman during her employment as the sixth maid in the family.
The defendant, a self-employed beauty specialist, provided such services at her apartment in Clementi, Singapore. In court, she denied hurting her maid by kicking her on two occasions in 2015, on August 19 and September 4, Lianhe Wanbao (Singapore) reported.
The Filipino domestic helper, who was hired in July 2015, was the family’s sixth maid since May 2014, and she was sent back to the employment agency around six weeks after her hiring, on September 5, 2015.
The Filipino woman told the court that she had been beaten nearly every day during her stay at the defendant’s home. Whenever she made a minor mistake, the woman would punish physically such as by slapping her face, pulling her hair or even caning her, she claimed.
On one occasion, the maid was allegedly forced by the defendant to drink dirty water while she was cleaning the toilet.
On September 4, 2015, the Singaporean woman became angry and allegedly threatened to kill the maid if she failed to pack and go within five minutes. The Filipino spent the night with her belongings in the staircase of the apartment building. In the morning, the Singaporean woman’s husband took the maid back to the employment agency.
However, the court found that the maid’s statement contained inconsistencies, particularly related to the allegations of being kicked by the defendant. In addition, a bruise on the maid’s left leg failed to match her statement. Doctors could not find slap or cane marks during a medical examination.
Hence, the court found the defendant not guilty of two charges of physical abuse against the Filipino.

Oh really not guilty sure she has a lot of money to pay in court that’s why the case dismissed. And think of it ‘how many maids she hired but even one didn’t make up with her.The maid cannot reach her expectations.Too high I think…

So are you saying there’s no such thing as a bad maid? That all maids are 100% good.. it’s only the employers who are bad?
That there has never been any maids before that steals from her employer? That there has never been any maids before that bring guys to the house when the employers are out? That there has never been any maids before that neglected or mistreated the kids when the employers are at work?
Just because a maid accused her employer means the employer must be guilty? Or because she is a Filipino so 100% she’s not lying.

You read an article from the news or media and you are able to know exactly what happened?
So all the doctors are lying that she has no marks on any part of her body that has canes or slaps? When she claimed she has been abused EVERYDAY?
And only ONE mark which she claimed she has been kicked? I have a couple of bruises on my body, so I was beatened?
I’m sure Filipinos are better than that. As I know for sure, as has been proven time and again, we Singaporeans would encourage the courts to punish an emploer heavily for any mistreatment of maids..
You see a few statements and writeups from the news and media and come to a conclusion as if you were the there to witness that injustice was done to the maid.
Common Sense would lead one to believe that the employer was not guilty as although she had 5 maids within 14 months, she fired the maids and not the maids left her, and none of these maids accused her of abuse. If she has that capability to abuse, it wouldn’t take that long for her to do that.
And what is so questionable if a person have different standards or requirements that others normally don’t have?
And Singapore courts do not and will not find the employer not guilty if she’s guilty. That’s for sure.
