A Singaporean woman who had dismissed five foreign domestic workers within 14 months was found not guilty of physically abusing a Filipino woman during her employment as the sixth maid in the family.
The defendant, a self-employed beauty specialist, provided such services at her apartment in Clementi, Singapore. In court, she denied hurting her maid by kicking her on two occasions in 2015, on August 19 and September 4, Lianhe Wanbao (Singapore) reported.
The Filipino domestic helper, who was hired in July 2015, was the family’s sixth maid since May 2014, and she was sent back to the employment agency around six weeks after her hiring, on September 5, 2015.
The Filipino woman told the court that she had been beaten nearly every day during her stay at the defendant’s home. Whenever she made a minor mistake, the woman would punish physically such as by slapping her face, pulling her hair or even caning her, she claimed.
On one occasion, the maid was allegedly forced by the defendant to drink dirty water while she was cleaning the toilet.
On September 4, 2015, the Singaporean woman became angry and allegedly threatened to kill the maid if she failed to pack and go within five minutes. The Filipino spent the night with her belongings in the staircase of the apartment building. In the morning, the Singaporean woman’s husband took the maid back to the employment agency.
However, the court found that the maid’s statement contained inconsistencies, particularly related to the allegations of being kicked by the defendant. In addition, a bruise on the maid’s left leg failed to match her statement. Doctors could not find slap or cane marks during a medical examination.
Hence, the court found the defendant not guilty of two charges of physical abuse against the Filipino.

Aaron Dominic, tells a lot about Singaporeans like you and Roger. Arrogant and rude. As if maids are not humans. LKY has one regret: The dehumanisation of Ah Bengs.
Something is not right here. A thorough investigation must be re conducted to assure the rest of us that the maid was not lying. Hiring and firing so many in 14 months is very unusual.
The fact that she kick her out of the house n let the maid sleep in the staircase until the husband took the maid back to the employment agency says it all for me about the witch.I dont think anyone here including Roger Lim would do that to his own maid.To me thats just evil n cruel.
Maid are lowly educated and they can easily manipulated by lawyers during cross examination.Further they are marks n scars on her body showed she encountered beatings exaggerated perhaps but definitely beating.
Lastly so many maids in a short period???!!True maids would have complained but uneducated n poor people may not understand their rights …perhaps they are happy just to get out!!!
I think the judge is plain wrong there are circumstantial evidence to corroborate the maid evidence.
The Philippines Embassy in Singapore should look into this n lodge an appeal against decision of the stupid judge!!!
Esmar Hernandez … yap, that woman needs a FIRM HAND TO HANDLE HER CRUELNESS …
Statement from other maids? Or they reluctant to cooperate?
Roger Lim hahahaha u r singaporean of course u r in defendant’s side
Contact president duterte if this case abuser the Filipino and not guilty the employer
Yham David hahaha hi 5 korect your comment
Nothing to say coz court has already a decision.. Perhaps everything is true.. Only God knows what was happened between employer and her maids.
Aaron Dominic …Sir,and employer wont????????????????????
Anne Sambo same feather indeed or i must say he is a near related to that bitch employer
Well said.
Jennifer Lim-Choy yes indeed vice versa
Dear Yashi Ada, I think all who work as maids know their scope of work: cleaning (which includes poop, dirt) washing (which includes dirty laundry). They are not asked to do demeaning (low class or shameful) work deliberately because there’s a upper class or there’s a lower class. Work is work. But there’s a dignity you can bring to your work: you are helping the household you are working, the elderly, the children. You give care, love and attention…unfortunately that entails certain quality required of your work and when that’s not given, it really depends how patient the employer is. It’s a give and take, the balance takes time to work out. Which employer don’t want a hardworking maid who is loving and reliable? Many just don’t have the time to work it out so they change maids.
I think the defendant might have been a choosy and fussy employer to have switched maids so many times. She may or may not have abused them, it’s not proven. What’s proven is that there is no evidence of harm on the body of the maid who is accusing her of abuse. So, the maid might have lied because the employer was difficult and she needed to get out of this situation. I have changed maids before, for many reasons: they lied about their age, they lied about their experience, they are unable to adapt (Home sick), they are unable to learn, they made big mistakes (like leaving the gas on…). .. so, you can call me a fussy employer but you can’t call me abusive. The ones who eventually stayed and worked long with me have become long time friends who are still in contact with me after they return to the Philippines. So, we have to keep an open mind and not be critical just because of a one-sided view. Employers are not naturally the abusers nor the maids the victims.
Exactly changing a no.s of Maid is a proof that this employer is a witch
Anavel Garcia Cher Birds have same feather flocks together
Yashi Ada agree with you
Yham David they have money but even a single cents they cannot bring in their grave. SURELY That witch will MEET her match one DAY. She won’t be happy for the rest of her lives
