An employer faced a heavy backlash from netizens after she posted a Facebook message criticizing her domestic worker for running up her water bill by bathing too often.
The employer, likely a woman judging from her nickname “Little Cloud,” wrote in a post in Chinese on the Facebook page of Support Group for HK Employers with FDHs that she was angered by her maid bathing at 9pm on Saturday and again early on Sunday before going out for her weekly holiday.
She said such bathing habits would result in a heavy cost burden from her water bill. She also asked other employers in the group whether their domestic workers had similar habits of bathing before and after sleep.
The post was screen-captured and reposted on the Brother-Sister Facebook Club page. Little Cloud was slammed for her unkind comments about her domestic worker.
Many netizens said domestic workers had a right to take a shower when they wished, while any employer who tried to stop them was being unreasonable. Some said Little Cloud should praise her maid for being careful with her personal hygiene.
Taking a shower two or three times a day is normal if it is summer or the indoor ventilation is poor, they said.
Little Cloud was also slammed by netizens for creating a “control freak” image for Hong Kong employers. They added that the Water Supplies Department was providing water to Hong Kong residents at a low price.
Take a Chinese helper so both of you are the same,you don’t need to take a bath.
They dont know for there safty also some helper go somewhere and some times they can get sick or virus outside so its better to be clean there body when they come back.

filipinas do take a bath 2 to 3 times a day,because they are hygienic.they cant even go out or start the day without taking a shower and goibg to bed without washibg again.unlike them,they can go out without taking a bath!just put their clothes and make up on then spray on their expensive perfumes that covers how stinky they are! this is the reason why some employers get jealous of their helper..because they STINK and their helpers Dont!( p.s.My boss never does that to me! they dont care how many times im bathing.)
We Filipinos, wanted to feel fresh and smell fresh always…Personal hygiene is must, and either you will agree or not we must strictly maintain personal hygiene because it’s our culture to do so…And no one could stop that , infact, it’s not in our contract that employer have right to control us in taking a bath and change underwear as often as we want.Just because you are worried to pay so much for the water usage. In that case don’t employ a hygienic person.You must employ those once or two times a week to take a bath and change underwear understand….

Taking shower in the morning and before bed time is normal… we Filipinos are like that …If we don’t take showers twice a day! We don’t feel comfortable … The employer must be happy because we are clean and hygienic.
You must. Be thankful that your maid is very careful its comes to the issue of hygenic.cleanliness is very important especially to our person hygiene

yes I had experience also giving 1 time bath only and even going to toilet is counting how many times flushing toilet saying wasting water and they e paying big bill bec of me that’s to hate those kind of people and employer they should not hire a helper
I worked 5 countries being a DH was our field to follow their mess and tidy up..i observed 2 i’ve gone lady employer 24 hours have not changed under wear only panty liner..I asked myself they don’t itch? I change 4 to 6 it depends on the weather…..
same here..i only allow to take shower before sleep..and my employer told me before that the water bill was increase since I start work with them …if their are not around I still wash my body morning ..after cleaning, and before bed time, it’s not wasting water ..i just want my self clean, feel comfortable..i don’t care if my employer get mad..
