A Facebook post about an Indonesian domestic worker – taking selfies with a friend at a shopping mall in Chai Wan on Hong Kong Island during working hours – has gone viral on social media recently.
On Wednesday afternoon, Ricky Wong Sze-chin, a former member of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB), uploaded a video and photos about the maid and her friend on his Facebook account.
According to his post, the maid was supposed to be taking care of an old woman, who was seen shaking on her wheelchair. Worried that the old lady could be feeling cold, Wong suggested to the domestic worker that she take the old lady home, instead of spending time taking selfies.
But the maid replied to Wong in Cantonese that the old woman’s condition was normal. “She is always shaking like this. Why did you scold me?” the maid said, adding that she had not left the old woman alone or unsafe.
The video had been viewed 1.8 million times and shared more than 15,000 times as of noon on Friday.
Netizens had different views about the incident. Some criticized the maid for neglecting the old woman and taking selfies with her friend during working hours.
But others slammed Wong for wrongly assuming that the old woman, who could have Parkinson’s disease – which causes patients to shake –was feeling cold.
Some netizens said Wong had opened a “public trial” against the maids by posting their pictures on Facebook.
He made trouble to indo employer as well ,In helper contract working in day off is illegal. day off is day off.But in their case was give and take because i think helper and employer are in good terms they understand each other with the situation .He was only Nosey chinese person and wants to destroy that indo helper and he thinks he was right and proud with his self
What do you think of your self? I think most of the Muslim helper is better than you! Not all the Employers are bad as you! I been working in western family for 7 years but they never judge my relegion as a muslim because they saw how good I Am to take care of thier family and kids. Im grateful and happy that they treated me like a member of their family!!!
#Racist!!
Some Chinese over acting she didn’t let the granny unattended. Better look at your own backyard before others.
The admin need to correctly too,the maid not in working day.but in her rest day (holiday)

we, maids, need to ask permission if we want to post something about employer or whosoever hongkong people. then what? you just posted something about us with a great judgement. wow!!! where’s your brain?? its now become viral, and what will be happened to that maid now? how if she lost her job? think!
Very true I also take care of an elderly and I understand my fellow helper’s situation
Next time Miss Wong don’t be assuming that you knew exactly the medical condition of the elderly before posting to rise an issue with the maid. What is your purpose in posting, to slammed the maid? But not all agree with you so you we’re slammed too. If you had a maid I hope she’s lucky to have you.
Owe,,so u ask to the government,, not allow the Muslim worker to come,,stupid man
Rammoyan Malinang ,,u must know what the happen before u talk,,

Rammoyan Malinang she take the elderly out during off.. You such idiot even her employer support her to sue the man.
Mind your own business
Wong,For sure the helper and her friend didn’t took selfie for 1 whole hour, and you don’t have any idea if the helper has her daily routine of taking her ward out for a walk or for a stroll.. THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK NARROWMINDED
I don’t often make a comment in social media. But it was getting on my nerve how some people are so insensitive, and careless. They don’t think first before doing an action, they just care about personal interest.
