The employers of the Singapore domestic helper who was photographed sleeping in the corridor outside their Housing Development Board flat last Sunday have stated that the incident was due to a miscommunication. The worker has corroborated their explanation.
The controversial photo was uploaded on Monday to the Facebook page “Filipinos in Singapore”, accompanied by a comment that the maid had been forced by her employers, who were away on holiday in India, to sleep in the corridor on Sunday.
The photo quickly went viral and has been shared over 4,000 times on Facebook, with thousands of commenters accusing the maid’s employers of being irresponsible, Shin Min Daily News reported.
When the maid saw on Monday that the photo had gone viral, she forwarded the post to her employers, who contacted the Ministry of Manpower in Singapore to arrange a meeting for Tuesday to allow them to explain. They said the incident was due to a miscommunication.
The maid also posted a comment on Facebook to clarify that she had decided to stay in the corridor on Sunday evening to wait for her employers, whom she mistakenly understood to be returning imminently. She said that she considered her employers to be friendly and generous toward her.
The Facebook page “Filipinos in Singapore” later took down the post and some media removed the original reports from their websites.
On a subsequent visit to the flat, a Shin Min Daily News reporter said the maid was minding her employers’ children and seemed happy.

I could say, she is stupid enough not to open up her mind in a true situation she is in.. That’s certainly an act of selfishness from her employers and yet she agrees with it.. Tsktsk..mag isip isip ka kabayan.
Away for a holiday? And u let your maid sleep at the corridor? Oh dear….this isn’t good at all. Working here in Singapore as a domestic helper for 10 years. I’ve helped a lot of maid to seek help to mom or to HOME.
They usually bullied by the employers. No enough food and been mistreated.
But we all known as Filipinos to be a fighter.
To my dear kabayan….dont cover up your employer. Seek Help if u can.

If the employer and the employee has a genuine good relationship, the employers would not deprive the helper a copy of their flat’s key. No trust? No love.
Its just show thay uour a bad employer why your helper have no own keys may boss away for 2 to 3 months i stay at home alone do go perfectly they come back perfectly at home no problem at all i was in our contract employer should take care your worker your reason of let her stay outside not option by then u come back she have yo tush her duties dont take another person at uour hiuse if u dont trust her do it yourself
If you don’t have any trust to your helper so do not employed her and save your money because its an inhuman treatment. …how does it feel if you’re on her behalf? ??
I one of the lucky helper when I work in Singapore, for 12year my employeer is my family,they allowed me to cook food for my church friend.and I have my own home key.
Why dnt they leave her at the agency lodging house instead of sleeping outside their house. Hmmmmm
Ang sa akin lang naman,sana kahit yong time lang na wala sila ay ipahiram ang susi. Para naman makahiga siya ng maayos.
Kung sa India sila nag holiday paano na siya sa mga ibang araw ? Bumiyahe lang ba ang amo ng araw na yon at balik na sila ng next early morning? Eh di nasa labas pa rin siya the next day.

This maid was so stupid.even cover up her employer.they never trust here she cant understan that.unlike me my employer was away until now but i have my access card and a keys just incase i forgotten the card plus an ezlink card just incase i want to go out and meet up my friends outside.
Unlike my employer a native of china they left me alone even thought this is my 3rddays working here in their house.with alot off foods in the fridge with a packet money.how come this indian never trust their maid.they shouldn’t suppose to have a maid.Mom should Band this kind of employer

If her employer cannot make it to come bck she should go bck to her friend hse to sleep …and why she has a mat to sleep outside too….something fishy….
