A 49-year-old Vietnamese divorcée in Tainan, Taiwan, almost became a victim to an online scammer, but her friend stopped her from sending a large amount of money to him.

The woman, who had been naturalized as a permanent resident in Taiwan and lived alone after her divorce, recently met a foreign military general on the mobile messaging app LINE, the China Daily News reported.

The pair reportedly fell in love after texting over an extended period. On April 12, the man told the woman he had sent her a box of gifts, which was unfortunately withheld by the customs, and US$15,000 (TW$463,008) was required for clearance.

Knowing nothing about foreign remittances, the woman approached a friend who worked in a telecommunications outlet. The woman suspected an online scam and filed the case on behalf of her friend to police.

Officers from the Jinhua station persuaded the woman not to send any money. The Vietnamese woman understood immediately and expressed her gratitude to her friend and the two police officers for preventing her from being cheated of more than TW$400,000, her life savings.

  1. With every little thing which seems to be developing throughout this specific subject matter, your opinions tend to be very radical. On the other hand, I beg your pardon, because I do not give credence to your entire suggestion, all be it refreshing none the less. It would seem to everyone that your commentary are not entirely justified and in fact you are yourself not wholly convinced of the point. In any case I did appreciate reading it.

  2. This site is known as a walk-through for all the information you needed about this and didn’t know who to ask. Glimpse right here, and also you’ll definitely uncover it.

  3. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is needed to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100 certain. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

  5. There are actually lots of particulars like that to take into consideration. That could be a great point to carry up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration however clearly there are questions like the one you carry up where the most important thing will likely be working in sincere good faith. I don?t know if finest practices have emerged around things like that, but I’m sure that your job is clearly recognized as a fair game. Both girls and boys feel the impression of only a moment’s pleasure, for the remainder of their lives.
