Isang 35-taong-gulang na Filipina domestic worker ang namatay noong Lunes sa Hong Kong dalawang araw matapos siyang ipadala sa ospital sa Tai Po, New Territories. Siya ay nasuri na may lupus, isang sakit na autoimmune.
Si Maristel P Pepito, mula sa Baybay, Leyte, ay namatay sa Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital sa Tai Po, iniulat ng hongkongnews.com.
Nauunawaan na siya ay unang naospital noong Enero at tinutukoy ng mga doktor na siya ay may lupus. Siya ay nakalabas ng hospital noong Pebrero 5.
Ngunit noong Pebrero 16, muli siyang dinala sa ospital matapos lumala ang kondisyon niya. Ang isang opisyal sa Konsulado ng Pilipinas sa Hong Kong ay nagsabi na si Pepito ay nagkaroon ng pulmonary hemorrhage at ang kanyang lupus ay humantong sa matinding pneumonia. Dinala siya sa intensive care unit bago siya namatay.
Ang mga opisyal ng Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ay bumisita sa kanya noong Linggo, at namatay siya pagkaraan ng araw.
Sinabi ng opisyal na ang konsulado ay nakikipag-ugnayan sa pamilya, employer, at ahensya ng pagtatrabaho ng kababaihan sa pagpapalipat ng kanyang labi sa Pilipinas.
