A Hong Kong police officer was forced to pull his gun when a man allegedly wielded a knife in broad daylight in Yuen Long on Tuesday.
At 10am, a man was spotted wandering with a 30-centimeter-long knife on On Lok Road in Yuen Long, Sing Tao Daily reported.
After police answered the call and arrived at On Lok Road, they asked the man to put down the knife, but he refused. A police officer then pulled out his gun and ordered the suspect to drop the knife.
Other officers rushed to the scene and subdued the man. He was arrested for alleged possession of offensive weapons.
The 28-year-old suspect surnamed Ng, said to be a triad member, was allegedly involving in a fight with a rival gangster earlier. He sustained a cut to his leg during the brawl. Seeking revenge, he reportedly obtained a knife and went looking for his rivals on the street before being intercepted by the police officers.
