A total of 16 people were arrested on allegations of prostitution in Macau on Friday when police launched a crackdown on vice. More than 30 crime investigators were involved in raids which lasted from midnight until 5 am at entertainment venues around Cotai Strip, the Hou Kong Daily reported.
During the raids, police detained four Southeast Asian men dressed as women and wearing heavy make-up. Officers described them as cross-dressing men. Three were from Thailand and one from the Philippines and they admitted they came to Macau to engage in prostitution.
Others caught in the raids and charged with prostitution were women from mainland China. All 16 suspects were taken to a police station for identity checks before being sent to the Public Security Police Force.
Don’t send money full stop. Don’t pass your personal details to anyone (eg as date of birth or Credit Cards). Never trust anyone online especially you never meet before. So many scams online and you gotta be so so careful. Macau government should place advertisements on print and television to educate people who are not aware of the dangers on the internet. Especially the older generation who has been scammed before will also fall victim again to another type of scam. As a internet company in NZ, we are aware of the dangers and we do educated people of the dangers. I was part of Scam Buster’s a long time ago and got full knowledge what is real and what is not but many Macau locals are not aware of the dangers because of lack of publication by the government or Internet businesses. Please be careful people.
