A 42-year-old Indonesian mother from Kaohsiung City in southern Taiwan, who was initially distraught at losing a bag containing more than NT$12,000 in cash, was later elated and much relieved to find an honest citizen had found her bag and given it to the police.
Three officers from Kaohsiung city police’s Yanchao Precinct who were patrolling in the neighborhood were approached by a woman surnamed Zhang, who picked up the bag with more than NT$12,000 ($US390) in cash by the road, the Taiwan Times reported on Tuesday.
Officers quickly returned to the station and reviewed CCTV security footage in their search to find the owner of the bag.
Around 10 minutes later, the Indonesian woman, who was an employee of a bento restaurant nearby, came in a desperate bid to find her lost bag. She told police she had dropped the bag with her wages, which were intended to pay off her children’s school registration fees.
The Indonesian woman was grateful for the Yanchao police and the honest citizen who returned her bag intact.
