Information technology, sales and marketing will continue to create a large number of job opportunities in Vietnam over the coming few years, according to a human resource expert.
By the end of this year, IT, manufacturing, retail and engineering employees will be in high demand, Vietnam News reported, citing comments from Simon Matthews, country manager, ManpowerGroup Vietnam, Thailand and the Middle East.
There will be another 500,000 job offers in the IT sector by 2020, said Matthews. Besides, sales and marketing positions will account for a high proportion of recruitment demand, more than 50% in the manufacturing sector and more than 60% of the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
It is relatively difficult to fill sales positions, which demand specific skills and knowledge, he said.
Artificial intelligence and automation are set to release blue collars in the fourth industrial revolution we are foreseeing right now, according to a survey titled Skill Revolution 2.0, compiled by ManpowerGroup Vietnam.
New technologies are set to bring higher turnover rates in administrative, finance, accounting and office functions in the coming two years. On the other hand, the need for IT personnel is expected to be five times the need for accounting personnel in the finance sector.
In the future, workforce demand will see a paradigm shift as soft skills will be needed as the world evolves. Blue collar workers are already being replaced by robotics in production belts.
Routine jobs in white collar sectors are also starting to be taken over by office automation.
