Dozens of villagers from Dulanapur in Cuttack district in Odisha, India protested against the local government after five people were injured in a wild boar attack.

On September 1, three men and two women were attacked by a wild boar which had strayed into Dulanapur village from Chandaka-Damapada forest, Odisha TV reported. All of the victims were later admitted to hospital in stable condition.

Villagers, outraged by what they viewed as a lack of care provided by the local authorities, staged protests by burning tires and blocking the Jatamundia-Khurda road.

The protesters demanded that the authorities pay the medical expenses of the injured, and urged the local government to protect the village against attacks by animals from the nearby forest.
