A 33-year-old Filipino worker found lying unconscious on the floor of a factory was later pronounced dead despite efforts to resuscitate him by ambulance and hospital staff in Kaohsiung City in southern Taiwan.
The Filipino was seen lying immobile in the corridor outside a paint spraying room at I-Domain Industrial Company Ltd – a manufacturer of lightweight metal panels, during lunch break at around 1pm on August 23, The Liberty Times reported.
Firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene and sent the victim, who was not breathing and had no pulse, to Kaohsiung Municipal Siaogang Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:45pm.
It was suspected that the victim could have died of an accidental electrocution. However, officers from the Labor Standards Inspection Office at Kaohsiung City have yet to find evidence suggesting an electrical accident at the plant during a preliminary investigation.
Officials said a post-mortem examination would have to be done to establish the Filipino worker’s actual cause of death.
