A Filipino migrant workers group in Saudi Arabia is helping to make computer training possible for citizens of Bacolod City in the Philippines.
On Wednesday at the Bacolod City Government Center, the Philippine-Saudi Arabia Hiligaynon (PINAS-SAHI) turned over 13 computers and two printers to the Bacolod Public Library, The Filipino Times reported.
Arman Montero, past president of PINAS-SAHI, said that the computers and printers are to help the library with its digital literacy program.
“We saw that they lacked computers, so the board approved this donation,” Montero said.
PINAS-SAHI is a group of professional and skilled Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia who hail from the Visayas and Mindanao regions. They are also working on donating computers to Bacolod City’s Social Development Center.
Bacolod City’s public library is providing free basic computer training to senior citizens, out-of-school youths, and anyone interested in learning how to use computers. Already 12 intakes of students have completed their training, and the next intake will begin lessons on September 3.
