A Filipina domestic helper has stated in court that she was shocked when her employer pulled a diamond ring from the pocket of her backpack on April 24.
Jeambreth Algura made the statement during her trial in Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Court on July 10 for allegedly stealing two diamond rings owned by the female employer she had served for the past seven years, the sunwebhk.com reported.
The defendant told the court that her employer Lau Yi-ki sent her on an errand that day. When she came back to find two police officers in the apartment, she noticed that her umbrella, which she usually put in the pocket of her backpack, was in the wrong place.
The defendant said the officers informed her that she was being investigated over the loss of her employer’s two rings.
The defendant said Lau opened her luggage and spilled her personal belongings onto the living room floor.
Then, the employer opened her backpack and did the same, in doing so discovering one of the two missing rings and allegedly spotting the other.
When the police officers asked Algura her how the rings got into her backpack, she said she was shocked to be suspected of stealing.
Upon cross-examination by the prosecution lawyer, the defendant mentioned she was told once by Lau’s elder son, who lived in a separate unit, that his mother wanted to take revenge on her because his younger brother was closer to the maid than their mother.
The younger son, who is now 16 years old, gave evidence to the court saying the defendant is a helpful and honest domestic worker, adding that he was very close to her as the maid had been taking care of him since he was eight years old.
Algura was remanded in custody after the hearing. She has been in detention since Apr 24, when bail was refused.

So investigate the finger print of the ring .this type of case is very obvious that is made by employer to put the ring only abnormal person u stole the things hide in the pocket lol…. sarcastic employer….

Mike Foo by trying to protect her kids she should not destroy a person’s life beside she work with kids with love and care which the mother failed to do she let her helper take care of them.over time of course the kids will love her..If she jealous then.she should let her go… The kids grown up why she.takes revenge or maybe something else does not want to pay her LS.

A lesson to all hongkongers who have a domestic helper….be a mother to your children its okey that the children wil treat your helper as a second mother or even close to them for harmonious relationship inside the house…but pls parent dont forget your responsibility as a parent to show love..discipline.and teach your children and straighten their path in a right manner and pls dont forget love your children as ur daughter and son not as part of your responsibilities …its necessary….if you dont trust your helper then dont hire …if you dont know how to respect them then learn to live your life by your own… we are also human like you…and pls dont accused a helper stealing something they dont our dignity and integrity is important….and pls dont make us bobo or ignorant…and lastly if your jealous then be a mother although its quite to late your son is 16….but try atleast dont make stories in your mind that will make you a psychopath….
Pls to all employers just be thankful if your children know how to love and respect your helper atleast you knew that your children value people beyond their status in your home…you must be thankful that your helper go beyond her duties and responsibilities which is only to "HELP-HER"( you )as a mother….who is aware maybe of lack of attention and affection to your children….
We are here to help you in your dailylife not to steal things or your children..we are working for our families and we are also helping you…we wont steal your status as a parent to your children but we wil help and teach them the right and good manners….

damn and scroudges employer must be in jail too for making the helper miserable i wish her consience will make her not to sleep and be punish by God above for everything her helper has suffer now, she has no shame despite being serve kindness from her helper by long years of taking care of her child and doing the daily chores in her house…yes we are helpers an its our duty, but cant we have the right to have just good treatment for the duty we did to your children and the house works…please
