A Filipino man stabbed and killed his two sons before killing himself in in Tantangan, South Cotabato, in the Philippines. According to police, the 29-year-old man was the father of six children and his wife was in Manila to process an application to work overseas.

The man’s wife had been in Manila for about a month, ABS-CBN News reported.

According to Reden Crisologo, the officer-in-charge of Tantangan Police Station, the man had threatened his wife, saying he would kill their children. Crisologo said the man was drunk before the killings.

The children had been living with their grandmother while their mother was away. On Monday evening, the man tried convincing his three sons, aged 12, five and three, to stay at his house for the night. The eldest refused and went to his grandmother’s home as he was scared of his father.

The man convinced his other two sons to stay with him that night. The next day, the grandmother went to the man’s house as she was worried that the three had not woken up. She said the children usually woke up early in the morning.

When she arrived at the house, she saw the boys and their father unconscious and bloodied. The boys were stabbed and the father was suspected to have committed suicide.
