A famous choral group from Manila was invited by a Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer to perform in its headquarters in Kaohsiung for overseas Filipino workers for the first time on Sunday.
That morning, about 300 Filipino workers for Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Inc, also known as ASE Group, gathered in the headquarters on Dexian Road, Nanzi district, to welcome The Covenant Singers and their performances, The Commons Daily reported.
The Covenant Singers, or TCS for short, are a choral group composed of energetic youth from various churches in the Philippines who have united in their passion for choral music and service to their God. It is the first time that the missionary group has visited Taiwan.
K C Chou, the senior vice-president of ASE Group, said the group’s presence was intended to be one of the events for the celebration of International Workers’ Day, which is this Tuesday.
It was hoped that the company’s Filipino workers would enjoy it, and could understand that ASE valued their contributions a lot.
At present the ASE Group employs more than 24,000 workers, 3,500 of whom are skilled migrant workers.
In 2017, the company was selected as one of the best employers for migrant workers by the Kaohsiung City Government for its devotion to advocating and practicing respect, equity and diversity.
