A 32-year-old man of Nepalese origin has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his father to death in Kowloon’s Mong Kok district on Sunday afternoon in an argument over money.
The dead man, who was 49, lived with his son in a subdivided flat on 1065 Canton Road, the Oriental Daily reported.
It is believed the son, the eldest of three brothers, asked to borrow some money at 3pm, but his father refused. The son allegedly responded by stabbing and slashing his father with a meat knife.
The injured man telephoned his youngest son, saying he had fallen and was injured. Unable to contact his father again, the son alerted police, who went to the flat with paramedics.
After gaining access through the locked door, police officers found the father lying unconscious on a floor with three injuries to his head and two on his thighs. The man was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital but pronounced dead at 1am on Monday.
Police said there was evidence that a fight occurred in the flat. They arrested the eldest son in Yau Ma Tei on Sunday night and he has been detained at Mong Kok Police Station while investigations continue into the incident.
