The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait has come to the rescue a distressed Filipino domestic worker after video of her went viral on Facebook and arranged her repatriation.

On January 18, the video was posted on Facebook by Yvonne Baal, a domestic worker in Kuwait, seeking the help of the Philippine government to send her back home, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.

In the video, Baal said her contract was supposed to end on February 13, but her employer accused her of stealing jewelry and did not allow her to leave. The employer also threatened to have her arrested if she did not return the jewelry.

Baal said she did steal any jewelry and pleaded to the government to help her. She provided her address as well. The video gained more than 1.6 million views and more than 55,000 shares on Facebook.

The embassy was able to locate Baal. It said the woman’s employer agreed to allow her to return to the Philippines on Wednesday. The employer will not press charges against her.
