A 27-year-old local man was arrested by police at Hong Kong International Airport for allegedly scamming a woman for sex and HK$100,000 (US$12,811).

Police received a report on Monday from a female jewelry designer, aged 30, who asked the suspect to help her troubled relationship with her former boyfriend, according to a media briefing.

The suspect, who is married and runs a Thai Buddhist temple on Nathan Road in Kowloon’s Mong Kok, claimed to be a “tame head” master who could practice oriental black magic to help clients improve romantic relationships.

The victim paid him HK$100,000 for two rites but they didn’t work.

The suspect then advised the victim to have sex with him in April and July in Mong Kok, claiming that the sexual act would win back her boyfriend and change her fate.

After police investigated, the suspect was arrested at the airport on Wednesday – for alleged procurement by false pretenses for the purposes of an unlawful sexual act – when he returned from Thailand, Wen Wei Po reported. The man was taken to his home and Mong Kok for searches in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, a netizen revealed a friend paid the suspect HK$300,000 to make her boyfriend return to her but it did not work out, Headline Daily reported.

Police believe there may be more victims and have advised people to contact them.
