A Russian tourist was injured when he tried to escape capture after stealing a HK$300 (US$38.5) bluetooth speaker from a Chai Wan shop on Hong Kong Island on Monday.
The 29-year-old was treated at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital after officers arrested him for theft following a chase.
A shopkeeper in Hing Wah Plaza had been showing the tourist the speaker moments before it was stolen at 1pm, Wen Wei Po reported. The 39-year-old shopkeeper chased the Russian who ran 300 meters to an area in front of Youth Square near the Chai Wan MTR station.
The tourist was injured when he jumped from a four-meter-high footbridge.
The Russian arrived in Hong Kong on June 15 on a tourist visa and was staying on Hong Kong Island, Sing Tao Daily reported.
First they’re begging for money to ‘travel the world’ and now they’re stealing. The Russians visiting HK are not making a good name for themselves.
Shaikh Daniyal Sohail Russia have more then one person. And most of them stay home.
Shaikh Daniyal Sohail where are you from?
Respect Russians, or any other nationalities
Idiot
Just goes to show how naive foreign tourist really are- then you see them posting photos and making fun of locals. Why not go back to your own country and steal from the people there?
