A Hong Kong woman, who was with a group of 12 people, broke her leg on a hike at Mount Johnston on the eastern side of Ap Lei Chau, Hong Kong Island, on Tuesday morning.

The 52-year-old woman misstepped, slipped and fractured her left leg at 11am, Apple Daily reported.

A helicopter from the Government Flying Services was deployed to rescue the woman because the area was steep. She was treated at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.

Councillor Lo Kin-hei from Southern District for the Lei Tung II constituency told Ming Pao that Mount Johnston is 196 meters tall, but was difficult because it had steep and rocky slopes, with no official trails, making it unsuitable for beginners or holiday hikers.
