Police are searching for a Chinese man who was seen stealing pink pajamas belonging to a 24-year-old domestic worker from a clothes line outside a village house in Tuen Mun in New Territories West on Friday morning.
The theft followed a similar incident in the area earlier this month, Wen Wei Po reported.
At around 10am, a man aged about 30 years old of slim build and approximately 1.8 metres tall was seen loitering outside a village house in Chung Uk Tsuen on Kwong Tin Street. The domestic worker alerted her female 54-year-old employer, surnamed Fong, who shouted at the intruder.
The man took the garment from the clothes line and placed it in his bag and was immediately pursued by Fong. However, she was unable to prevent the man from fleeing the scene. The underclothes were valued at HK$150 (US$19), Ming Pao reported.
In a separate case, a 48-year-old man surnamed Wong was arrested by police on April 6 on suspicion of stealing women’s underwear from outside a village house in Sun Fung Wai, which is adjacent to Chung Uk Tsuen. The suspect was granted bail pending further investigation.
