A domestic helper and two of her employer’s children, aged 3 and 4, escaped uninjured after a fire broke out in a public housing flat in Siu Sai Wan Estate in Hong Kong Island East.
At around 1pm on Saturday, the maid saw smoke coming from the employer’s locked bedroom in a flat on the fourth floor of Sui Lok House after the mother had left for the annual ritual of tomb-sweeping, Sing Tao Daily reported.
After she called for help, neighbors rang the police and the maid escaped with the children unharmed. Firemen arrived and put out the fire within 10 minutes. The fire started after a switch short circuited inside the bedroom, Oriental Daily reported, citing an initial investigation.
The police did not disclose the nationality of the domestic worker but a resident captured of a picture of her.

Ganyan ang nature ng journalism ngayon ang iniisip ang pagkakakitaan para mabawi kaagad ang nagasto sa pag aaral
Ganyan tlga cla bias
tama kayo lahat kahit yung kumain lang ng meatball may pinalty pa ang maid…mga tsikwa talaga
With the red bag
This is a sad reality of how most of the HK Chinese people treat other Asian nationalities like us.
They think they are the superiors of all sorts. It is true that they worked so hard to be in their status but there is one thing that is merely forgotten….
to be human.
yes… Ur right
Tama..
This is an unfair news why they don’t mentioned the name and nationality…if the helper make bad they post it all the detail but if it’s good no name no nationality …..and for those employer don’t trust there helper you don’t need to have one….to luck the room with kids it’s not acceptable in accident like this…
Media talaga one sided
Discrimination exist. If the helper do right thing they won’t publish name and nationality .
I thought my country had the bias media but i`m wrong because here in Hongkong also have a bias media.and how come they said in the report that its a foul play….what a life!?!?!
Your so unfair, you just given this report, without naming the helper, who rescue the todler kids. But if the domestic helper,do bad things, the name you will pronouns to the public, and so sad,in the last, she help this kids, and you would say its a foul play, what kind of a reporter you are????You are bias…
if pinay na nagnakaw yan nka frontpage pa laki pa pagkasulat ng pamagat pinay nag nakaw..ngaun kabutihn nagawa d nila alam anong bansa hehe
Bias report!!!!foul play p kamo ano un?dahil b positive nanyari kya foul play
IF AN OFW DID AN HEROIC ACT KAHIT MAN LANG PANGALAN DI BANGITIN.. PERO PAG ANG KUNYANG KONTING MALI LANG PATI PANAGALAN NG NINUNO NAHALUKAY…
How come that they did not mention the nationality of the maid..if the report is against the maid ,they always mention their nationality..discrimination always exist.
