Despite Thailand’s dependence on tourism, the country dealt its own economy a blow last year when they decided to crack down on cheap Chinese tour packages. Fortunately for Thailand, as their Chinese tourism sector is already recovering, the country is set to see a bump in visitors following China’s ban of tour groups to South Korea. Head of the Thai-Chinese Tourism Alliance Association Ronnarong Chewinsiriamnuai told Reuters that the ban, which is set to come into force March 15, could be chance for Chinese tourism to get back on track.
