Bo Kyi is a former political prisoner who set up and operated the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) in Mae Sot, Thailand, more than a decade ago to support hundreds of people jailed by the Myanmar military, as well as their families. He has won awards for his work from groups such as Human Rights Watch and was featured in a documentary by Jeanne Hallacy called Into the Current. He has returned to Yangon and continues his work with the AAPP.
