Dua orang wanita pekerja rel kereta api di Vietnam telah menerima pujian setelah mereka menyelamatkan seorang wanita dari kematian ketika mereka menarik wanita tersebut keluar dari jalur sebuah kereta api yang sedang melintas.
Pada pagi hari tanggal 12 Februari, Phan Thi Cam, 77, berjalan melewati pembatas disebuah persimpangan kereta api di kota Bien Hoa, setelah tertutupnya pembatas tesebut, Viet Nam News melaporkan.
Saat wanita lansia itu menyebrangi rel kereta, dia tersandung dan jatuh menghadap ke bawah sementara sebuah kereta sedang melaju dengan kecepatan tinggi mendekati persimpangan tersebut.
Dua karyawan rel kereta api, Nguyen Thi Minh, 35, dan Do Thi Lan, 32, segera mendekati rel kereta untuk menarik sang wanita hanya beberapa detik saja sebelum kereta hampir menabrak wanita tersebut.
Kedua karyawan wanita yang bekerja pada Perusahaan Saham Gabungan Kereta Api Saigon tersebut berkata bahwa mereka awalnya telah mencoba untuk mencegah wanita lansia itu dari menyebrangi rel namun mereka tidak tidak dihiraukan.
Lan berkata bahwa menyelamatkan sang wanita lansia hanyalah bagian dari pekerjaannya.
Kepala Perusahaan Kereta Api Vietnam Vu Anh Minh mengirimkan surat kepada kedua pekerja rel kereta tersebut dan menyebut keduanya sebagai pahlawan oleh karena tindakan mereka. Dia menambahkan pekerja rel kereta bekerja keras dalam memastikan keamanan para penumpang, khususnya dalam masa Tet atau Tahun Baru Imlek.
“Para wanita itu bertindak bak pahlawan sementara menghadapi sebuah situasi hidup atau mati,” demikian tegas Minh.
