Those simple words send shivers of fear through villains around the world, and, sends women swooning.
Such is the life of British superspy, 007, currently portrayed by actor Daniel Craig.
Well, we can’t all be James Bond, but … we can buy a piece of the action, thanks to Omega watches’ latest offering.
According to GQ magazine, to honor the 50th anniversary of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, the George Lazenby-starring sixth film in the Bond series, the Swiss watchmaker is releasing a special-edition Seamaster to commemorate the occasion.
The limited-edition watch, a suave homage that would likely impress Bond, comes with a black dial, black bezel, and black rubber bracelet with gold hour markers, GQ said.
“A fitting tribute to a classic Bond film and one of cinema’s most iconic characters,” Omega’s president and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann said of the piece via a press release.
“This extraordinary watch is elegant, full of surprises and sure to be extremely popular with collectors and fans of the character, due to its many Bond-related features.”
And … it’s available for just US$6,500, Omega said.
Aeschlimann explained it in plain, no-nonsense terms, just like gadget guru Q would: all the Bond signifiers Omega has incorporated into the watch is what will drive customers to pick one up, GQ said.
Every feature on the list reads like it should end with, “Get it??” For starters, Omega is releasing 7,007 of these watches.
The 42mm dial window is designed to look like the spiraling barrel of a gun, the signature of every Bond movie’s opening credits. There’s a date window at the six o’clock hour, and the seventh date of every month will be represented by a “7” in the James Bond font, GQ said.
In the dark, the hour markers glow, and the 10 o’clock index will show the number “50” only under the cover of night — like a secret spy message! Lastly, the shape of the 12 o’clock marker is inspired by the Bond family crest.
Rounding out the impressive package is an 18K yellow gold plate engraved with each timepiece’s unique limited-edition number.
Befitting a professional dive watch of this caliber, its case is water-resistant to 300m and features a helium escape valve.
According to the Robb Report, Omega’s relationship with cinema’s longest-running spy series goes back over 20 years, having produced timepieces for the character since 1995’s Golden Eye.
In that film, the first to feature Pierce Brosnan in the title role, the character also wore a Seamaster Diver 300M.
No Time to Die, the tentative title for Bond No. 25 in the series, is scheduled to be released in British cinemas from April 3, 2020, while North American audiences will have to wait until April 8, 2020.
According to Daxue Consulting, there is a saying in China: 穷人玩车，富人玩表, “The poor play with luxury cars, while the rich play with luxury watches.”
As the Chinese earnings are increasing, their demand for luxury products is also increasing.
In 2017, Swiss watch exports saw their strongest growth in more than five years according to a report by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry.
Hong Kong and mainland China were the top two markets for Swiss watches, with sales in Hong Kong rising 21.3% to 15% of the market and mainland China sales skyrocketing by 44.3% to reach 10.9% of the market.
