أعلنت واشنطن اليوم الخميس عن استقالة جيسون جرينبلات، مبعوث الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب في الشرق الأوسط خلال الأسابيع المقبلة.
ولعب جرينبلات دورًا أساسيًا في العمل على “خطة السلام” بين إسرائيل وفلسطين، والتي من المنتظر إعلان شقها السياسي بعد الانتخابات الإسرائيلية المنتظر انعقادها في 17 سبتمبر/أيلول المقبل، نقلًا عن صحيفة هآرتس الإسرائيلية.
وكان جرينبلات ينتوي البقاء في منصبه عامين فقط عندما بدأه عام 2017، لكنه اضطر للبقاء أطول مما كان مخططًا له، وذلك بحسب ما نقلته وكالة رويترز عن مسؤولين في الإدارة الأمريكية.
وأعلنت الولايات المتحدة عن الشق الاقتصادي من “خطة السلام” في شهر يونيو/حزيران الماضي في مؤتمر في البحرين.
وعلى الرغم من إصرار الحكومة الأمريكية على أن الخطة تأتي لصالح جميع الأطراف، إلا أن السلطات الفلسطينية رفضت الخطة واعتبرتها منحازة للجانب الإسرائيلي.
وقال جرينبلات إنه ممتن للفريق الذي ساعد على خلق هذه “الرؤية للسلام”، معتبرها قادرة على تحسين حياة الملايين من الإسرائيليين والفلسطينيين.
