أفرجت منطقة جبل طارق اليوم الخميس عن ناقلة النفط الإيرانية «غريس 1»، والتي كانت محتجزة منذ قرابة الستة أسابيع للاشتباه في اختراقها لعقوبات الاتحاد الأوروبي على سوريا.
وأتى قرار المحكمة العليا في منطقة جبل طارق – التابعة للتاج البريطاني لكن تتمتع بحكم ذاتي – على الرغم من محاولة الولايات المتحدة التحفظ على الناقلة البحرية.
وصدر قرار الإفراج عقب تسلم سلطات جبل طارق لتعهدات رسمية مكتوبة من إيران بعدم تفريغ نفط الناقلة المذكورة في سوريا.
وتقدمت وزارة العدل الأمريكية بطلب لسلطات جبل طارق للتحفظ على الناقلة الإيرانية، وذلك في الساعات السابقة لقرار المحكمة.
وقال وزير الخارجية الإيراني، جواد ظريف، في تغريدة على موقع تويتر إن «الولايات المتحدة حاولت انتهاك النظام القانوني لسرقة ممتلكاتنا في المياه الدولية. وهي محاولة قرصنة تدل على أن إدارة ترامب تحتقر القانون».
وتفاقمت الأزمة السياسية بين طهران وواشنطن بعدما أعلنت الولايات المتحدة عن زيادة العقوبات الاقتصادية ضمن تبعات أخرى لانسحاب إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترامب من الاتفاق الدولي بشأن البرنامج النووي الإيراني.
وكانت «غريس 1» قد تم احتجازها من قبل 30 بحار بريطاني بناءًا على طلب من جبل طارق. وبعد أسبوعين استولى الحرس الثوري في إيران على ناقلة نفط سويدية، ترفع علمًا بريطانيًا تدعى «ستينا إمبيرو » .
وساءت العلاقات الدبلوماسية بين إيران وبريطانيا في الأسابيع الماضية جراء تلك الأزمة.
وأعلنت بريطانيا انضمامها إلى القوات التي تقودها الولايات المتحدة في الخليج لحماية الممر الملاحي في مضيق هرمز.
