A group of four Vietnamese nationals were arrested in Cambodia for allegedly engaging in poaching at a wildlife sanctuary.

On May 1, the provincial military police in Stung Treng made the arrests, Khmer Times reported. District military police commander Sok Rithy confirmed the arrests and said that animal carcasses, as well as guns and bullets, were also seized.

According to local media, the arrests took place after local villagers in the Sdao commune came forward with information on the Vietnamese nationals’ activities on April 30.

A spokesperson for the National Military Police Brigadier General Eng Hy said the suspects are currently being questioned by police officers at the provincial military police headquarters.
