Huawei and its rival Samsung have settled their long-standing patent infringement dispute with a framework agreement, Beijing Business Today reported, citing a Chinese court document.
The two technology giants have reached a patent permission agreement that will serve as a framework for both sides’ cross-licensing globally, according to Guangdong High People’s Court.
In addition, the other lawsuits filed by Huawei or Samsung against each other in the same arena will all be resolved, and both companies have started working on withdrawing relevant charges. The report didn’t elaborate on details of the agreement.
Meanwhile, industry insiders as saying that Qualcomm may shift its focus toward Huawei after it reached a settlement with Apple a month ago. Qualcomm said in an earlier statement that negotiations with Huawei are ongoing.

A Huawei spokesman did not respond to requests for comment, it added.
