بدأ البيت الأبيض في إجراءات إعلان جماعة الإخوان المسلمين تنظيم إرهابي، بحسب البيت الأبيض، وهي خطوة في صف حلفاء النظام الأمريكي في منطقة الشرق الأوسط.
قالت سارة ساندرز المسئولة الإعلامية بالبيت الأبيض في بيان أمس الثلاثاء أن القرار حالياً في مراحل الإجراءات الداخلية بعد استشارة الرئيس دونالد ترامب لفريقه للأمن القومي وزعماء بالمنطقة.
يأتي القرار بشأن الجماعة التي صنفتها مصر جماعة إرهابية، بعد ثلاثة أسابيع من زيارة الرئيس المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي للولايات المتحدة، حيث أثنى عليه ترامب، بالرغم من الضغط الدولي على الولايات المتحدة لاتخاذ موقف من السياسات القمعية التي تبناها، قائلاً أنه «يقوم بعمل رائع».
كانت جماعة الإخوان، التي بنت قاعدة عريضة من الداعمين في الوطن العربي منذ نشأتها في 1928 في مصر، وصلت للسلطة في مصر في أعقاب ثورة 2011، إلا أن القوات المسلحة أزاحت الرئيس محمد مرسي في 2013 في أعقاب مظاهرات حاشدة ضد حكم الجماعة.
اعترض حزب العدالة والتنمية الحاكم في تركيا الذي تربطه علاقات قوية بالجماعة على القرار أمس الثلاثاء، وقال عمر جليك المتحدث باسم الحزب أن القرار سيعرقل جهود إرساء الديمقراطية في الشرق الأوسط وسيخدم جماعات متشددة مثل تنظيم الدولة الإسلامية.
