انتقدت وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية القبض على ثلاثة ناشطات سعوديات في الأسابيع الأخيرة بسبب مشاركتهن في فعاليات مناهضة للحجاب الإلزامي في إيران، بحسب فريق التواصل التابع للوزارة على تويتر.
وقالت الخارجية الأمريكية في تصريحات أمس الأربعاء أن السلطات الإيرانية تشن «حملة قمع متزايدة» على المطالبات بحقوق الإنسان في إيران، في أعقاب القبض على ثلاث ناشطات مناهضات للحجاب الإلزامي، والحكم في مارس/آذار على ويدا موحدي القيادية في الحراك ضد بالسجن لمدة عام.
كانت السلطات الإيرانية ألقت القبض على الناشطة ياسمين آرياني من منزلها في 10 أبريل/نيسان ثم قبضت على والدتها منيرة عربهاشي عند توجهها للنائب العام في طهران للسؤال عن إبنتها، وكانت كلاهما شاركتا في فعاليات ضد الحجاب الإلزامي، بحسب منظمة هيومان رايتس ووتش.
شهدت إيران حراك في ديسمبر 2007 ويناير 2018 قامت فيه نساء بخلع الحجاب أثناء الوقوف على صناديق الكهرباء في أنحاء إيران اعتراضاً على القانون الذي يلزم النساء بتغطية الرأس والذي تم فرضه منذ الثورة الإسلامية في إيران في 1979. قامت السلطات منذ ذلك الوقت بحملة اعتقالات ومحاكمات استهدفت المشاركات في الحراك.
