A Filipino domestic worker in Dubai was sentenced to one year in jail on Sunday for sexually assaulting her employer’s five-year-old daughter.

The child’s mother said the Filipina, 27, worked for her family for nearly 18 months and took care of her two children. The mother said her daughter admitted she was touched inappropriately by the domestic worker, The National reported.

The mother said her daughter approached her and touched her inappropriately, saying the Filipina had done that to her twice. The mother confronted the Filipina, who denied the allegations at first, but later admitted she did sexually assault the girl twice.

“I asked her to leave my house. My husband and I complained against her at the police station,” the Syrian mother said. The Filipina was arrested and charged with sexual assault. She admitted to the prosecution that she did molest the child when she was changing the child’s clothes in her employer’s home in Al Muraqqabat.

On Sunday at the Dubai Criminal Court, the Filipina was convicted of sexual assault and was sentenced to one year in prison. She will be deported after serving her time.
