Pihak berwenang di Thailand telah mengamankan 15 nelayan asal Indonesia setelah mereka diduga keluar dari jalur dan memasuki wilayah perairan Thailand, menyebabkan petugas kelautan negara tersebut mengeluarkan peringatan di daerah barat provinsi Aceh.
Kapal memancing ikan mereka, KM Harapan Baroe 01, berlayar dari desa Kuala Idi di Aceh Timur menuju ke Selat Malaka, sebelum mereka kemudian didapati keluar dari jalur yang seharusnya, The Jakarta Post melaporkan. Para nelayan tersebut telah dituntut atas tuduhan melakukan pelanggaran secara tidak khusus di perairan Thailand.
“Kami menerima informasi mengenai penahanan yang dimaksud pada hari Jumat,” demikian ungkap wakil-kepala kelautan Aceh, Miftachhuddin Cut Adek, yang menambahkan, “Kami berharap kedutaan besar Indonesia dapat menghubungi pihak berwenang Thailand untuk mendapatkan informasi terbaru mengenai kondisi para nelayan Indonesia yang ditangkap.
Miftachhuddin berkata dia percaya bahwa kapal yang bersangkutan kemungkinan keluar dari jalur karena arus laut yang kuat, yang menyebabkan kapal itu sampai ke perairan Thailand. Sementara ini, belum diterima konfirmasi mengenai penangkapan tersebut dari pihak Thailand.
Setidaknya sebanyak 38 nelayan asal Aceh Timur telah ditangkap di beberapa negara tetangga dalam tahun ini, termasuk 23 WNI yang ditahan di Myanmar pada 6 Februari. Badan Urusan Kelautan dan Perikanan Pemerintah Aceh telah memperingatkan para nelayan dari provinsi tersebut untuk lebih berhati-hati saat berlayar.
