Chinese telecom giant Huawei and new energy carmaker BYD have inked an agreement to cooperate on the Internet of Vehicles, intelligent driving, smart monorail and smart campus solutions.
BYD has accumulated abundant technological know-how in new energy vehicle and rail transport systems, while Huawei is leading in artificial intelligence, 5G, cloud computing and big data, the new energy carmaker said in a company statement.
The two parties will seek in-depth collaboration and exchanges to push forward the upgrading of the transport industry, it said. They also plan to enhance cooperation in railway solutions.
Previously, a driverless monorail transit system, developed by Huawei and BYD, began operating in Yinchuan, the capital of northwest China’s Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
BYD will also integrate Huawei’s eLTE wireless communication solution into its monorail system.
