國際潮團總會第二十屆國際潮團聯誼年會團長秘書長會議在新西蘭奧克蘭拉開帷幕，在歡迎晚宴上，參會者為基督城3.15槍擊事件中的死難者靜默致哀，並且捐出善款，當天就籌集了共計超過220多萬新西蘭元（約150萬美元）。
共有來自海內外的125個潮裔商貿組織領袖和三百多位潮屬鄉賢代表參加了會議。在國際潮團主席、新西蘭潮屬總會董事局主席張乙坤的提議下，參會的來賓們全體肅立，共同為不久前發生在3.15槍擊事件中的死難者靜默致哀。
當地時間3月15日，新西蘭第二大城市基督城幾處清真寺發生槍擊案，造成50人死亡，多人受傷。這一天被形容為新西蘭「最黑暗的一天」。
悉知新西蘭遭遇槍擊案導致的嚴重傷亡，來自海內外潮團的參會代表們無不深感震驚和悲痛。他們表示，願與新西蘭人民一起度過這個困難的時刻，對此予以強烈譴責，希望給予那些在槍擊案中遇難和受傷的家庭和朋友們更多的關愛和支持。
為了表達對槍擊事件遇難者的悼念和關愛，各潮團僑領和參會代表紛紛捐出善款。
在奧克蘭市長Phil Goff、中國駐新西蘭大使吳璽、中國駐奧克蘭總領館許爾文總領事和數位國會議員等當地政要的見證下，先後有美國潮汕總會、國際潮團總會、新西蘭潮屬總會、海南潮商經濟促進會、珠海潮人海外聯誼會、北京潮商會、北京海外潮人聯誼會、深圳潮人海外經濟促進會、香港潮屬社團總會、廣東省潮人海外聯誼會等超人社團現場捐出上百萬新西蘭元。
另外，海南南國集團董事長劉漢惜、海南洪江游會長各捐出5萬美金、美國聖荷西潮州會館捐出3,000美金。
當晚在奧克蘭參加會議的海內外潮人社團和個人已募集到的捐助善款共計超過220萬新西蘭元。還有更多社團陸續加入到捐款行列中，全部收集善款將交給奧克蘭市市長Phil Goff轉交給3.15槍擊遇難者家屬。
