Inaresto ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang may kabuuang 30 Chinese nationals na natagpuang ilegal na nagtatrabaho sa Parañaque City sa Pilipinas.
Ang mga awtoridad ng Immigration ay nagsagawa ng mga pagsalakay sa 16 na establisimyento sa Solemare Parksuites at Aseana Power Station, iniulat ng Philippine News Agency. Sinabi ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente na nilabag ng mga Tsino ang Philippine Immigration Act sa pamamagitan ng hindi pagkakaroon ng tamang visa o permiso sa trabaho.
Ipinaliwanag ni Morente na ang mga intelligence reports ay nagpapaalam sa kanyang kagawaran na maraming mga dayuhan ang nagtatrabaho nang ilegal sa lugar. “Kaagad kong inilabas ang isang mission order upang maisagawa ang pag-aresto sa pagkumpirma,” sabi niya.
Ayon sa BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr., karamihan sa mga Chinese nationals ay dumating sa Pilipinas gamit ang tourist visa, at nagtatrabaho bilang cooks, hairstylists at vendors. Marami ang hindi dokumentado at naninirahan sa Pilipinas.
Sinabi ni Manahan na ang 17 na Chinese nationals at isang Taiwanese national pa ang dinakip sa panahon ng pagsalakay ay inilabas pagkatapos nilang iharap na wastong dokumentasyon.
“Umaasa ako na ang pangyayaring ito ay magsisilbing babala sa lahat. Kami ay seryoso sa aming paghimok laban sa mga iligal na dayuhan, “sabi ni Manahan.
Ang mga inaresto na dayuhan ay pansamantalang pinigil sa BI Detention Center sa Bicutan, habang naghihintay ng mga paglilitis sa deportasyon.
Noong nakaraang taon, halos 400 na dayuhan ang naaresto dahil sa pagtatrabaho nang ilegal sa Pilipinas. Ang 300 sa kanila ay mga Tsino na overstaying o nagtatrabaho nang walang wastong pahintulot sa trabaho.
