Pagkatapos ay sinubukan ng Filipina na saksakin din ang anak na babae ng lalaki at pukpukin ng martilyo sa kanyang mukha at ulo. Ang babae ay nakaligtas sa mga suntok at nagtamo ng mga pinsala.
Tinangka ng Filipina na patayin ang sarili matapos ang krimen ngunit hindi naging matagumpay. Inaresto siya ng pulisya ng Saudi at siya ay sinampahan ng kasong pagpatay. Ang Korte ng Pag-apela at ang Korte Suprema ay nagtagumpay sa hatol na kamatayan na ibinigay laban sa Filipina at ang isang kautusan ng hari ay inilabas upang ipatupad.
Sinabi ng Philippine Ambassador sa Saudi Arabia na si Adnan Alonto, ang Embahada ng Pilipinas ay naglaan sa Filipina ng abogado upang tulungan siya sa lahat ng yugto ng kanyang paglilitis, nagpadala din ng mga kinatawan upang bisitahin siya at magbigay sa kanyang pamilya sa Pilipinas ng mga regular na update tungkol sa kanyang kaso.
“Ang Kagawaran ay nagrerepaso dahil hindi nila maliligtas ang buhay ng Filipina matapos iuri ng Saudi Supreme Judicial Council ang kaso nito kung saan ang blood money ay hindi nalalapat sa ilalim ng batas ng Shariah,” ang sabi ng DFA.
