A Pakistani man appeared in court last week to face charges of kidnapping and raping a Filipino woman who he had invited to dinner in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, last year.
The Dubai Court of First Instance heard the man invited the Filipina to dinner on November 14 last year. After they ate, the man refused to take the woman home and insisted she go to a cafe with him after dinner, Khaleej Times reported.
However, the man did not drive to a cafe but took her to a remote off-road location where he raped her twice inside his car after dragging her into the back of the vehicle. The Filipina kicked him and tried to escape but he punched her and bit her to stop her and then raped her a second time. After the assault, the man dropped the woman off at her residence and threatened to kill her if she reported him to police.
The Filipina confided with her friend, who helped her file a complaint with the police. Shortly after receiving the complaint, police arrested the Pakistani man.
Prosecutors accused the man of kidnapping, rape and sexual assault, but the man denied the charges and claimed it was consensual sex. Police said the man claimed to have pictures of the Filipina kissing him, but the woman said he took videos and pictures against her will to make it look like she was a consenting partner.
