Seorang pekerja migran Indonesia berusia 39 tahun dijatuhi hukuman lima minggu penjara oleh Pengadilan Negeri Kowloon Barat pada hari Jumat atas tuduhan memukul seorang pria Hong Kong berusia 90 tahun yang dijaganya.
Terdakwa bernama Siti Anisah tersebut mengaku bersalah atas dua tuduhan penyerangan terhadap sang pria lansia yang telah duduk di kursi roda dan pikun, setelah tindakannya tersebut tertangkap rekaman kamera keamanan, Oriental Daily melaporkan.
Pengacara pembela memohon keringanan hukum di pengadilan dengan mengatakan bahwa terdakwa merasa menyesal dan telah mengerti bahwa dirinya tidak boleh lagi melakukan kekerasan.
Hakim Ada Yim berkata bahwa terdakwa merupakan satu-satunya pengasuh dari pria tua itu saat terjadinya pemukulan tersebut.
Berdasarkan laporan dari seorang petugas yang mengawasi terdakwa dalam tahanan selama masa sidang, pekerja tersebut tidak tahan dengan beban kerjanya yang berat, namun dia tetap pertahankan pekerjaan nya oleh karena kebutuhan keuangan.
Hakim pun menegur terdakwa dan berkata bahwa pekerja tersebut perlu mengendalikan emosi nya dan bukannya melepaskan stres nya kepada orang tua tersebut karena tindakan nya tersebut telah membuat sang pria lansia ketakutan dan mengalami luka-luka, Apple Daily melaporkan.
Sebelumnya, pengadilan mendengarkan bahwa anak-anak dari pria tersebut mempekerjakan terdakwa untuk menjaga sang ayah di sebuah apartemen di Shek Lei Estate di Kwai Chung.
Peristiwa yang dimaksud terjadi ketika sang ibu sedang tidak sehat dan berada di rumah sakit sehingga pria lansia itu pun harus tinggal dirumah hanya berdua dengan sang pengasuh.
Pemukulan yang dilakukan terdakwa diketahui setelah anak-anak korban mengunjungi ayah mereka dan menemukan luka-luka pada bagian wajah dan hidung korban. Mereka pun memeriksa rekaman video kemanan dan menemukan terdakwa telah memukul ayah mereka pada bagian wajahnya dan menggunakan handuk untuk membersihkan wajah korban secara kasar, kemudian terdakwa mendorong kepala korban.
