أفرجت دولة اﻹمارات العربية المتحدة عن الصحفي اﻷردني تيسير النجار بعد شهرين من الانتهاء من أداء عقوبته بعدما قررت إعفائه من الغرامة المستحقة، حسبما أفادت وكالة اﻷنباء اﻷردنية.
وقال المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية وشؤون المغتربين اﻷردنية سفيان القضاة إنه النجار وصل إلى المملكة اﻷردنية بعد ظهر أمس الثلاثاء.
كانت المحكمة الاتحادية العليا بالإمارات أدانت النجار بموجب قانون مكافحة جرائم تقنية المعلومات الإماراتي في مارس/آذار 2017، وحكمت عليه بالسجن 3 سنوات ودفع غرامة بقيمة 500 ألف درهم (136 ألف دولار) بتهمة «إهانة رموز الدولة».
ويعاقب قانون مكافحة جرائم تقنية المعلومات اﻹماراتي بالسجن بين 3 و15 عامًا لكل من يستخدم تقنية المعلومات «بقصد السخرية أو الإضرار بسمعة أو هيبة أو مكانة الدولة أو أي من مؤسساتها».
وأنهى النجار تنفيذ العقوبة في 13 ديسمبر/كانون الأول الماضي، إلا أنه ظل مسجونًا بسبب عدم قدرته على دفع الغرامة الكبيرة. وبحسب القانون اﻹماراتي، كان من المفترض أن يقضي النجار ستة شهور أخرى في السجن إذا لم يتمكن من دفع الغرامة.
لكن المتحدث باسم الخارجية اﻷردنية أوضح أن السلطات اﻹماراتية قررت إعفاء النجار من الغرامة.
كانت منظمة هيومان رايتس ووتش أصدرت بيانًا في ديسمبر/كانون اﻷول الماضي طالبت فيه اﻹمارات باﻹفراج عن النجار بعد ثلاث سنوات من سجنه. واعتبرت المنظمة أن سجنه يمثل انتهاكًا لحرية التعبير.
ولفتت المنظمة إلى آخرين قضوا فترات سجن طويلة بسبب ممارسة حقهم في حرية التعبير في اﻹمارات، من بينهم الحقوقي أحمد منصور، والأكاديمي ناصر بن غيث، واللذان يواجهان حكمًا بالسجن عشر سنوات.
