A Taiwanese woman seen using a mobile phone and who appeared suspicious was intercepted by two patrol officers from Yunlin County Police Department. She was later arrested after officers suspected that the smartphone might be stolen.

The suspect surnamed Hung sought the officers’ help as she was unable to understand the phone’s user interface, which was in Vietnamese, The Commons Daily reported.

When the officers noticed that the phone wallpaper also showed a different person’s face, the officers’ suspicions deepened.

They confronted the woman, who first claimed the smartphone was a gift, but later admitted that she wanted to have a smartphone so much that she sneaked into a worker’s hostel and snatched one along with the charging device and an external battery.

The smartphone was later returned to its owner, who thanked the two officers. The suspect was arrested for theft.
