A Filipino woman who was beaten to death by her husband in Sweden has finally been laid to rest in Stockholm.

Mailyn Conde Sinambong was killed on September 23 by her husband, Steve Abou Bakr Aalam, 50, a Swedish actor-director, at their home in northwest Stockholm.

Sinambong succumbed to her injuries and left behind two children aged four and 10, PTV News reported.

Elmer Cato, assistant secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, said on Tuesday that Sinambong’s remains will not be repatriated to the Philippines as she had been laid to rest in Stockholm, two months after her death.

“She was buried at the Norra Begravningsplatsen cemetery in the presence of her brother and cousin from the Philippines, her two children, her aunt and cousin from Norway, and her in-laws,” Cato said.

Swedish authorities have reassured Sinambong’s family that justice will be served.

Last week, Swedish prosecutors met with Sinambong’s brother and cousin to discuss the murder case filed against Aalam, who allegedly confessed to killing his wife in Kista.
