A 10-year-old Hong Kong girl was crowned “Princess of Asia Pacific” at an international junior model contest held in Dubai.
Arianna Cheung, a primary five student, competed with junior models aged below 17 from 30 countries, Oriental Daily reported.
Cheung also won the award for best costume and was selected as one of the five finalists in the category of “best talent models.”
The Junior Model International contest was held in Dubai from October 1 to 5.
With support from the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Arianna spent a month preparing for the contest. In costume as the Empress Wu Zetian of the late Tang Dynasty, she introduced Hong Kong to judges from seven countries.
Arianna said she was honored to represent Hong Kong in the international contest and she was excited to receive the award, adding that she would like to thank her parents for their support and efforts during the contest.
Arianna’s mother said she hoped the trip and the contest would broaden her daughter’s vision and help her get to know friends from other countries.
