A 37-year-old part-time tutor was fined S$2,500 by a Singapore district court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to committing a rash act to endanger the personal safety of a 48-year-old building manager at a community club in July last year.
The court learned that on July 24, 2017, the accused, Singaporean Chew Hup Seng, a part-time tutor, took his e-scooter in an elevator to the fifth floor of Keat Hong Community Club and rode it around the multi-purpose hall, Shin Min Daily News reported.
A Filipino member of the building management staff, Pedro JR Garcia Mondejar, came out of his office and politely asked Chew to stop riding the scooter in the hall as he might damage the timber flooring.
Chew reacted angrily and before riding off, showed Mondejar his middle finger, accused him of having brought shame upon his country, and told him to take a budget flight back to the Philippines.
A few minutes later, when Mondejar was walking towards the elevator, Chew swerved his e-scooter towards him. After Mondejar only managed to avoid injury by fending off the scooter with his hands, the accused continued to abuse him and followed him into the lift lobby, threatening to hit him with the e-scooter.
The victim was forced to retreat behind a locked door to escape from Chew.
During sentencing, the district judge condemned Chew’s for his irresponsible actions and for showing no regard for the safety of the building manager.
Attitude problem????
Too much ego. When a state becomes economically well pride follows. I prefer to be poor but sane.
Buti nga. Yan resulta ng mga hambog
