Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after finding the bodies of a couple in a building on Hong Kong Island on Wednesday morning.
At 7:52am, a man’s body was found on a lower open area at Hua Qin International Building on Queen’s Road Central in Sheung Wan, and his wife was found later lying unconscious in an office unit of the same building, Sing Tao Daily reported.
The woman, who had suffered stab wounds, died after being taken to Ruttonjee Hospital.
It was understood that the man, a 68-year-old security guard, and his wife, a 64-year-old cleaner, both worked at the commercial building. They were in the process of getting divorced and had disputes over money issues, news website HK01.com reported, citing police sources.
Investigators suspected that the man attacked his wife with a knife before committing suicide by jumping off the building.
Police classified the case as a murder-suicide and the investigation is ongoing.
